5K Walk/Run for Respect

Our event spreads awareness to teens and young adults against domestic violence which has become a large social problem in our nation.
This event is in honor of JACLYN ELISSE TORREALBA.The Jaclyn Elisse Cares for Youth Foundation (JECY) conducts a 5k Walk/Run for Respect each year and was created in 2010, following the murder of Jaclyn Elisse Torrealba a beloved daughter, friend, and soul. Run for Respect is a 5K Walk/Run, in memory of Jaclyn Elisse Torrealba, designed to raise awareness regarding healthy relationships and overall safety issues for our teens & young adults. It is a way of empowering our teens & young adult population to stay safe, become aware of various dangers signa (red flags signs), and bring forth knowledge of healthy realationships for teens & young adults. This event is conducted each year in February, a week prior Valentines Day. The Jaclyn Elisse Cares for Youtth Foundation (JECY) created the 5K Walk/Run for Respect to helps raise proceeds for; (1) the Jaclyn Elisse Torrealba Scholarship (given to a student at Florida International University/Undergraduate School, which meets the FIU and the JACLYN ELISSE TORREALBA SCHOLARSHIP qualifications), and (2) to Love Is Respect, an naional teen hotline organization which brings awareness to teen domestic violence. *Anyone that is interested in becoming involved or would like to donate food or refreshments please contact 1.
